This workshop is designed to build personal and organizational cultural competency that is unique to your organization.
This is a first step in building working relationships with Indigenous partners and communities. This interactive intro provides participants with a lived-experience perspective on Indigenous culture, the legacy of colonialism in Canada, reconciliation and building right relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
A strong emphasis is placed on self reflection and community building through storytelling as a means to create a deep personal connection to the work and to build a shared understanding among the participants.
Specialized topics include:
Indigenizing Land
This workshop will begin the process of decolonizing our understanding of land, unlearn cultural biases and build a relationship with the land that promotes healing, justice,and equity.
Decolonizing Self Care, Rest and Spirituality
This workshop will explore the intersection of self-care, rest,and spirituality through an Indigenous lens. We will discuss and practice traditional teachings rooted in Indigenous wisdom, as we engage in ongoing education and unlearning of colonial biases and assumptions about self-care, rest, and spirituality.
Arts as Medicine
This workshop that focuses on the relationship between health and art from an Indigenous perspective. It acts as an introduction to the role that the arts can have in health and wellness, specifically as it relates to play and creativity, and their relationship to self care and spirituality.
